Monique Mojica

Junior in Mechanical Engineering, UAA

I am a third year undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. My favorite hobbies to do in Alaska are hike and rock climb. My ultimate goal after graduation is to pursue a career in mechanical engineering that involves design and energy efficiency.

The Plasma Lab research at the University of Alaska, Anchorage continuously enables me to advance my skills in design. The projects provide a lot of room for self-creativity and problem solving. I enjoy being able to work along side other majors (electrical engineering, CSE, and pre-med.) to achieve our project goals. I am also able to take the software and concepts learned from my mechanical engineering courses and incorporate these concepts to everything that I pursue at the Plasma Lab.

I am working on designing the instrumentation that will allow us to measure the temperature rise of the solenoids around the Helicon Plasma Source. This project includes consideration of mounting, laboratory environment, and data acquisition.
